Haiku is a Japanese form of short poetry. It has a special format - the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables and the last line has five syllables. Here's a haiku about one of our favorite characters:
Harry Potter lived
in a room under the stairs
Until Hogwarts called
Try writing a haiku about one of the characters that you read about this summer and send it to us at childrens@peninsulapublic.org or you can mail them to us at 280 Central Ave., Lawrence, NY 11559. We'll post some of our favorite ones on Facebook!
